Challenge: Formerly Romeo Entertainment, TBA Entertainments Fairs and Festivals division provides a multitude of musical and comedic acts for midways across the country. TBA is well-known in the entertainment-booking industry but still maintains a healthy marketing budget each year. The company attends numerous tradeshows and advertises in industry magazines to keep the spotlight on their brand image. But the marketing staff wanted to jazz up the ads with an exciting image to capture the feel of a live performance. TBA also needed a layout solution that would lend itself well to being easily adjustable to fit multiple advertising sizes large and small.
Solution: I created the photo collage from five different stock photos - the musician was originally shown looking somewhat pasty in an empty room. Come on now, that doesnt rock! But now he does, thanks to light displays, an amusement ride, and a raucous crowd scene in the background. A little aside here - for any photo collage artists out there - a great way to unify a collage is to choose one focal image for the piece and perhaps keep it in full color - accenting certain areas as needed. Then choose an appropriate color palette for the background imagery. The resulting effect produces a seamless transition between images that work in harmony to pop the main subject. Had to get that off my chest - Ive been seeing way to many multi-color-clash photo collage nightmares (a certain local tradeshow I attended was rife with such imagery - including the tradeshows own promotional materials.)
Results: TBAs new ads and brochure graphics got loud applause from their clients and industry peers. I enjoyed working with TBA, but recently the company was bought, name changed to TBA Global Events, and they now have a large in-house graphic design staff to fulfill their advertising needs.
